Russian Blue

Leusa Lloyd

A sliver of silver

bolting from bushes -

slinks up the garden path

tail-to-sky -

pawing the door,

the jade wrath of his eyes -

fur-to-shin:

our greeting -

weaving my legs,

I set down his bowl -

kneading my knees

staccato claws -

balls up, a velvet

full moon in my lap.
